There are loads of activities to do at The Spinney!

Camp Fire

A campfire circle has been created in a natural ampitheatre that includes timber sleeper seating for the traditional campfire.

BBQ AREA

A permanent BBQ area is situated half way down the track, between the main hut and the camping meadow, in The Glade.

GRASS SLEDGING

Grass sledges are available for use on natural slope in meadow.  A leader must supervise their use at all times.

CANOEING & RAFTING

Large lake available with canoes and rafting equipment. Trained instructors are available by prior arrangement or bring your own.
As the Canoeing Lake does not belong to The Spinney, Water Activities must be arranged with the Warden.

ASSAULT COURSE

This is a free activity, located along the track towards the main meadow.  It is suitable for all age groups.  A leader must supervise the course at all times.  (Youngsters should not be allowed to romp on the cargo net).

CAVING SIMULATOR

A caving simulator is another free activity located adjacent to the BBQ.  This consists of a series of ply boards that fix together to form a maze and covered with a black sheeting, giving the appearance of a cave.  The youngsters then have to crawl through the maze of tunnels and holes.

TRAVERSE WALL

An enclosed plywood wall 2.5m high x approx 20m perimeter with climbing holds for traversing. Sheeted roof enables use in wet weather. Supervision required but not climbing authorisation.

BMX BIKES

9 bikes available with natural path course in wood. Supervision required.

TREE CLIMB

Two trees fitted with climbing holds, safety line etc. Trained instructors are available by prior arrangement.

ABSEIL WALL

7M High tower with one plywood faced wall. Trained instructors are available by prior arrangement or bring your own (use of our rope and fittings equipment would need prior notification).
